What are packaging fillers?

Container packaging is used for fragile products such as glass and ceramics.

Generally speaking, container fillings are items that are packaged with the product. They perform the following functions in the packaging design:

  • Assurance. The filling prevents the development from moving. The filler can reduce the risk of product movement or make it completely stable depending on the type.
  • Aesthetics. Fillers can also help increase product exposure. Some fillers can turn out to be perfect design complements. 
  • Decorations. The product is placed on top of the filling. This ensures a natural amortization. Even if the packaging is accidentally moved, the padding can reduce the risk of damage.

There are many different types of packaging. They differ in the materials used to make them, the size and the fill level. The most popular variants are as follows:

#1 Custom upholstery and partitions

Cushions and partitions are used to separate and stabilize package contents. The section is shown in the figure above. They are usually used in small bottles, cosmetics or jars. The material of these works is mainly cardboard. Air cushion 

#2 inflatable plastic bags

 Providing a perfect cushioning solution. Recommended for light products. Modern air cushions are made of biodegradable or recycled materials.

#3 Bubble Paper 

It is mainly used to transport fragile items. However, it is known for helping relieve stress!

#4 Recycled paper scrap

They are often used in gift packaging and subscription boxes. Confetti is an environmentally friendly solution that provides very high-quality interior decoration. In addition, this is a great way to launch a product beautifully.

#5 Wood Silk

Another sustainable variant on the list. Wood wool is very suitable for wooden boxes, but it is also ideal for cardboard boxes. In some respects, it resembles confetti in that it provides a good cushion for the product inside. It has a more concise touch and is very suitable for our ecological mailbox.

How do I choose the proper putty for my packaging? 

It is best to consider the brittleness of the product first. If the product needs additional protection, it may be a good idea to use packing fillers. Although clothing is generally shipped without accessories, products made of glass or ceramic must be stable during transport. It is also essential to match the filling to the product. If you value sustainability, kapok is the recommended option.
